In the US approximately every hour - 38 people will have a cardiac arrest event at some point outside a medical facility. Nine out of those ten people will not survive but if lifesaving CPR is performed, the chance doubles and at times even triples.
In the state of Texas every young adult will have to have CPR training and pass to graduate from high school. The training has to be taught sometime between 7th grade and 12th grade.
States in yellow in the image below are states that it is now mandatory for graduation from high school to have had CPR training.
