According to the American Heart Association Journals, (“Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics—2011 Update) 1 in 9 death certificates in the U.S. mentioned heart failure. Now- more than ever, it is crucial to understanding the condition of your heart and heart warning signs in case an emergency strikes.
Although various heart conditions have different symptoms, warning signs of heart issues can be the same. Shortness of breath, frequent rapid heartbeats, extreme weakness can all be symptoms that should trigger you to visit your local doctor, or in some cases - the hospital.
This should go without saying; ignoring symptoms of heart issues can have devastating effects. While most heart conditions aren’t fatal in some actual heart conditions - some can be. Untreated heart issues can lead to long-term damage of the heart, and even other vital organs like your brain. Aside from physical damage, friends and family can be overwhelmed with worries and concerns.
Be proactive this year and take the initiative to get your heart screened before any symptoms arise. Make sure you know your body before it alerts you of sudden health concerns. At a time when many make New Year’s Resolutions, focus on your heart and ensure a lifetime of great memories with those whom you love.
