Life is fragile... let your heart be heard!

We have all known someone or heard of someone who has just "died" or "dropped dead". As harsh as it sounds, it is true. Most of the incidents were normal people that just died during normal daily activities, with normal lives..... SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) is the reason.

Just as Karen Schrah, The Helgeson Family lost a loved one on a normal day, during a normal activity and for no reason other than SCA. Rita and Richard Helgeson lost their son due to SCA and Karen Schrah lost her son, Zachary. Andrew Helgeson was just 18 years old.

SCA doesn't play favorites, Sudden Cardiac Arrest can hit at any age, any race and at any time. We know this information because Zachary Schrah was a healthy young man playing football with no know health conditions.

Young people who go into Sudden Cardiac Arrest can most often be saved if an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is used to reset the heart to a normal heart rhythm.

More than anything, had either of these young men had a Electrocardiogram (EKG) and/or a Echocardiogram (ECHO), their heart conditions may have been detected with could have prevented their death.

There are many things to learn about SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) and Living for Zachary is doing everything they can to promote Heart Screening in our Youth. Please join our efforts by donating to the Living for Zachary Organization or attending one of our Living for Zachary Fundraising events.

Let your Heart be Heard!

A Mother and a son... a bond forever

IT'S A BOY! Absolute music to the ears of Mothers. To hear these words is the dream of Mothers everywhere.

Having a boy tends to make a woman a trusted adviser, teacher and friend, taxi driver and nurse. A Mother helps shape her son’s view of himself, his view of others and his view of the world and the people around. A Mother instills the values in her son that will shape him throughout the rest of his life.

We have so many dreams for our children, so many aspirations. Although we will feel the greatest joy in the world when we bring that precious one into the world~ we too will have disappointments. Remember that no matter what, kids will be kids and boys (no doubt) will be boys. You will cringe when he guts the fish in your backyard (he was so excited about what he caught). You will holler when the commode lid is left up. You beg him to open up and share his feelings. You will gripe at him when he spits on the ground and you spend hours trying to get the grass stains out of his clothes. You get aggravated about all the bugs he plays with and your amazed at how big his feet are but again... "boys will be boys". A son will test a Mother’s patience to no end but her life will be become more meaningful and the memories never ending.

A Mother is the loudest screamer at the football games, A Mother will be the one who proudly wears the “that’s my son” button at the athletic events, A Mother sits pride fully at orchestra and band concerts and she longs for that precious time that he will look at you and say “this is for you Mom”. A Mother sits by her son's bed when he is sick and check his temperature constantly. A Mother will cry uncontrollable when her son walks across the graduation stage, and the day he leaves for college you are empty inside, because that is “your boy” and he may not need his Mama as much anymore.

A son is protective of his Mother and his love for her is never dying. A son’s love is steadfast and strong for her. A son knows no doubt that his Mama is his “number 1 fan”. Just as the famous Boyz to Men song “MAMA’s song”,
“Mama, mama you’re the queen of my heart Your love is like tears from the stars Mama, I just want you to know Lovin you is like food to my soul

The bond between a Mother and Son will be unbreakable till the end of time, just ask Karen Schrah. Karen lost her son Zachary way too early but the bond that Karen and Zachary had were never leave her heart and the memories will live on forever.

to all the Mothers around the world
Happy Mother’s Day
